Federico II and Bath Spa Universities
Two courses have been created for EMMA as a joint initiative between the University of Naples Federico II and Bath Spa University.
The University of Naples Federico II was established in 1224 through an Imperial Charter of Frederick II Hohenstaufen, King of Sicily and Holy Roman Emperor. It was the first publicly funded university in Europe. Nowadays the university offers courses in essentially all academic disciplines, leading to onehundredfiftyfive graduate level degrees. Research facilities provide support to all these courses. Students are given the opportunity to pursue intellectual development as well as the acquisition of professional skills. Current student enrollment nears 97,000 and the academic personnel, at this time, is 3,121. The University of Naples, Federico II, was the first university in Italy to experience open learning through its platform: Federica (federica.unina.it), which offers free access to a network of academic knowledge, providing learning objectives for every course and a structured guide to the vast amount of information already available on the Web. Bath Spa University offers pre-degree study, undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degrees, focusing primarily on arts and humanities subjects, supported by a strong outcomes-based provision. Whatever path students wish to follow – research, enterprise and teaching – they can tailor their learning to support their future career direction
